Online therapy in Ontario

Does Our Space Clinic offer online therapy anywhere in Ontario?

Yes. Our Space Clinic is a fully virtual psychotherapy clinic serving clients anywhere in Ontario, Canada. Sessions run over a secure, encrypted video platform, so you can work with a clinician on our team, all registered with or working toward registration with the CRPO, from any city or town in the province without travelling. There is no in-person office; everything is done by video, including individual therapy, couples therapy, and teen and child therapy.

Is online therapy as effective as seeing a therapist in person?

For most common concerns, research finds virtual psychotherapy works as well as in-person sessions; what matters most is the fit with your therapist, not the format. At Our Space Clinic all sessions are virtual and delivered by clinicians registered with or working toward registration with the CRPO, held to the same professional standards as in-person care, with pre-licensed clinicians practising under supervision. Virtual sessions also remove travel, childcare, and geography as barriers.

Getting started

How do I book a free consultation with Our Space Clinic?

Book a free consultation by selecting any 'Book a consult' button on this site or through our contact page. You fill out a short form, choose a same-week time, and meet a clinician by secure video for 30 minutes at no cost (40 minutes for couples). Our Space Clinic is fully online across Ontario, so you can book from anywhere in the province.

Do I need a doctor's referral to start therapy in Ontario?

No. Psychotherapy in Ontario is directly accessible, so no doctor's referral is required to start with Our Space Clinic. You can book a free consultation yourself and begin sessions with a clinician registered with or working toward registration with the CRPO.

What ages does Our Space Clinic see for online therapy in Ontario?

Our Space Clinic sees adults, teens, and children from approximately age 10 to 17, all online across Ontario. For teen and child therapy, younger children work in sessions that are play and activity-based, while teens meet in a relaxed conversation.

Is what I share in therapy at Our Space Clinic kept confidential?

Yes. What you share stays in the room, and Our Space Clinic follows CRPO standards for confidentiality and privacy. The only legal exceptions, a risk of harm, a court order, or mandatory reporting, are explained to you in your first intake before any sessions begin.

What's the difference between a Registered Psychotherapist, a psychologist, and a social worker in Ontario?

A Registered Psychotherapist (RP) is regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and trained to provide talk therapy. Psychologists can also formally diagnose and do psychological testing, while Registered Social Workers are regulated separately by the OCSWSSW. Our Space Clinic's team is registered with or working toward registration with the CRPO: Registered Psychotherapists and Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying), with pre-licensed clinicians practising under the supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist. The clinician you book is the one you meet. Our Space Clinic also runs CRPO exam prep for clinicians training toward registration.

What can I expect in the free consultation before booking therapy?

Before you decide, Our Space Clinic offers a free 30 to 40 minute consultation by video. It is a chance to share what is bringing you in, ask questions, and see whether the therapist feels like the right fit, with no obligation to continue. The clinician you consult with is the same one you work with in ongoing sessions; you can book a consultation whenever you are ready.

Does Our Space Clinic offer therapy for teens and children, and do parents need to consent?

Yes. Our Space Clinic offers virtual therapy for teens and children roughly ages 10 to 17, with 50-minute sessions, online across Ontario. In Ontario, consent depends on whether the young person is capable of understanding the treatment rather than a fixed age, and the clinician explains confidentiality and its limits to the family at intake. Reach out through the free consultation to discuss your child's situation.

Does Our Space Clinic offer couples and family therapy online?

Yes. Our Space Clinic provides virtual couples therapy and family therapy, in addition to individual and teen or child therapy, anywhere in Ontario. Couples and family sessions run 75 minutes and range from $140 to $250 CAD depending on the clinician; partners or family members can join from the same room or from separate locations on the secure video platform. The first consultation is free, 30 to 40 minutes.

Booking & scheduling

How quickly can I get a first therapy session at Our Space Clinic?

Most clients have their first paid session within the same week as the free consultation, depending on the clinician you match with. Because Our Space Clinic is fully online across Ontario, you are not limited to therapists in your local area, which usually means more availability.

Can I reschedule?

Yes, with at least 48 hours notice, free of charge. If you need to reschedule within the same week, we'll do our best to move things without penalty. Late cancellations and no-shows inside 48 hours are subject to the full session rate.

Can I see the same clinician every time?

Yes. At Our Space Clinic the clinician you book is the clinician you meet, every session. That continuity is the whole point, and it holds whether you are seeing us for individual, couples, or teen and child therapy.

How soon can I get a first therapy appointment at Our Space Clinic?

Same-week first sessions are common at Our Space Clinic. Booking is handled through Jane App, where you can pick a time for your free consultation and then schedule ongoing sessions. Because the clinic is fully virtual across Ontario, you're not limited to therapists in your local area.

During sessions

How long is a therapy session at Our Space Clinic?

Individual and teen sessions are 50 minutes, and couples and family sessions are 75 minutes. The free first consultation is 30 to 40 minutes. The clock starts when the session starts at Our Space Clinic, not when you log on to the video call.

What video platform does Our Space Clinic use for online therapy?

Our Space Clinic uses a secure, encrypted video platform built for therapy, with no app to install. A private link is sent before each session, and sessions run anywhere in Ontario from your phone, tablet, or computer.

What happens if my internet drops during an online therapy session?

Refresh your browser and rejoin the session link. If you cannot reconnect within 5 minutes, your Our Space Clinic clinician will call you on the phone number we have on file so the session can continue.

Coverage & eligibility

Does OHIP cover therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario?

No. OHIP does not cover private psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist, so sessions at Our Space Clinic are paid out of pocket. However, most extended-health (workplace) benefit plans reimburse Registered Psychotherapist services. We provide a receipt with the therapist's CRPO registration number and service codes so you can claim it.

Which insurance companies reimburse for a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in Ontario?

Most major Canadian extended-health plans reimburse Registered Psychotherapist (RP) services, including Blue Cross, Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife, Green Shield, and Desjardins. Our Space Clinic doesn't bill insurers directly; you pay for your session and submit the receipt we issue, which lists the CRPO registration number and codes. Reimbursement typically takes one to two weeks.

How do I check if my benefits plan covers psychotherapy before I book?

Look in your benefits booklet or call your insurer and ask whether your plan covers a 'Registered Psychotherapist (RP)' - some plans list it under Psychotherapy, Counselling, or Mental Health instead. Ask about your annual maximum and whether you need the therapist's CRPO registration number. Our Space Clinic provides a receipt with that number and the service codes for your claim.
