You might be succeeding by every measure people around you have set, and still feel like something is quietly off. Maybe you're carrying the weight of expectations that were never really yours, navigating who you are across cultures that don't always speak to each other, or sitting with a version of yourself that feels hard to explain to the people closest to you. If any of that sounds familiar, you don't have to have it figured out before you walk in.

I work with people facing work-related stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties, and much of my work centers on identity, self-worth, and the particular pressure that comes with cultural and racial background. I often sit with clients who are high-functioning on the outside but quietly struggling, men who haven't said any of this out loud before, and newcomers trying to find their footing between worlds. I offer sessions in both English and Mandarin, and I understand firsthand what it means to move through different cultural spaces.

In session, I lead with listening. Early on, I'll invite you to imagine what life could look like if things were different, because knowing where you want to go matters as much as understanding where you've been. I check in with you regularly, because this is your process and I want it to actually fit.

A little context.

What is it like working with you?

Working with me feels collaborative and unhurried. I'll listen closely to what you're carrying, reflect back the meaning and emotions underneath your words, and help you start to understand where those feelings are coming from. I want our sessions to feel like a genuinely safe place to say the things that are hard to say elsewhere, and together we'll work toward solutions that actually make sense for your life.

What do you like most about being a therapist?

What I love most is witnessing the moment something shifts. When a client reaches a goal they set for themselves, or simply walks away from a session feeling even a little lighter than when they came in, that means everything to me. Being part of that process, however small the step, is what keeps me doing this work.

How do you take care of your own mental health?

I try to stay grounded through the things that genuinely restore me. I read and watch movies and TV shows, spend time in nature, and exercise regularly. Time with friends and family is important to me too. I think it matters that I practice what I encourage in my clients, and these are the things that keep me well.

What would you say to someone nervous about starting therapy?

Feeling nervous is completely normal, and I want you to know that discomfort at the start doesn't mean it isn't working. I'll meet you where you are. We can go as slowly as you need, and I'll always take your preferences into account, including which approaches feel right for you and what you actually want to get out of this. You're in the driver's seat, and my job is to make this feel as comfortable as possible.

What drew you to this field?

I grew up in a culture where mental health wasn't really talked about, and there were times during school when I felt the weight of that silence myself. That experience stayed with me, and it's part of what drew me toward this work. I wanted to help people navigate what I understand from the inside, and in doing this work, I continue to grow too.
